Gustav Stresemann, the new Chancellor of Germany, welcomed the French Government’s statement that it had no territorial aspirations to the Ruhr Valley, but he said that the country needed to withdraw.

The Cabinet gave its sanction for the works of erecting the Scottish War Memorial in the precincts of Edinburgh Castle to proceed.

Admiral John de Robeck was seriously injured in a motor accident in Lanarkshire.
