She is specially interested in foreign affairs, maternity and child welfare, and industrial conditions. She worked in a Rochdale cotton mill during a vacation.

Mr. C. Osborne, born in 1898, is a Leicestershire industrialist and chairman of a number of companies interested in the textile industry and in the grocery trade. He is an official of the ancient guild of Frame Knit Workers. He was elected to Parliament in 1945. Educated at University College, Oxford, he served with the Royal Artillery in France, Italy and Egypt in the 1914-18 war.

Mr. D. M. Reid held a commission in the Royal Flying Corps during the 1914-18 war and was twice wounded in France, where he gained the M.C. Going back to Cambridge after the war he became president of the Union. Later he took a business appointment in India and was for six years a member of the Madras Legislative Assembly. During the war he served with Indian regiments.

Miss C. McCall is 49 and the daughter of the late Sir Robert McCall, K..C. First woman in Britain trained as a psychiatric social worker, she holds hospital appointments. She has worked in prisons and Borstal institutions, and wrote a book on women’s prisons. Miss McCall has also been educational organizer to the National Federation of Women’s Institutes. She fought the seat in 1945.
