    Mr. H. C. Usborne was M.P. for Acocks Green in the last Parliament. Aged 41, Mr. Usborne lived in the Punjab as a child, his father being in the Indian Civil Service. He gained an honours degree in engineering at Cambridge and in 1932 he started as an oil combustion engineer, founding a company of which he is now chairman. He is vice-president of the National Peace Council.

Later, ‘he was deputy director of education at Coventry and director at Middlesbrough, before his appointment to Bradford in a similar capacity in 1925. He is now retired.
