BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. H. K. Armitage left the Labour Party in 1938 after being an active member, and joined the Liberal Party in 1944. His father was a pioneer of the Transport and General Workers’ Union, and his mother is ex-president of the Labour Party women’s organization in Oldham. He is 39, was educated in elementary schools, and is a printer’s auctioneer and valuer.
