Miss F. M. Pugh, daughter of the secretary of the Devon Congregational Union, was Mayoress of Torquay during the mayoralty of her father. She was secretary to the late Mr. Edgar Wallace when he contested Mid-Bucks in 1930, and has experience of local government as a member of Devon County Council.
