Mr. Nicholls is a member of Eastleigh (Hants) Borough Council.

He is a member of the Liberal Party national executive and last year did social work in the East End of London and in Bristol. He served in the Royal Navy during the war.

Mr. Emrys Roberts, who was born at Caernarvon, became a solicitor in 1936 and a barrister in 1944. He served in the Royal Air Force during the war, was elected for Merioneth in 1945, and has been a member of Parliamentary delegations to Yugoslavia, Germany, and Rumania. He was president of the Liberal Party of Wales, and served the National League of Young Liberals similarly in 1946-48.

Aged 35, he went to Victoria School, Newhaven, and Leith Academy. Before the war he took a keen interest in youth welfare and the Boys’ Brigade. He joined, the Territorial Army i? 1939, served at Dunkirk, and was commissioned in 1942.
