He was educated at Wycliffe College, Gloucester, and in 1922 went to the United States of America to obtain newspaper work. He returned to Britain in 1924. During the last Parliament he was Parliamentary private secretary to Mr. McNeil, th? Minister of State. He took a prominent part in debates on road and rail transport.
