    Mr. J. M. Eccles is a flying officer in the R.A.F.V.R., and adjutant of an A.T.C. squadron. During the war he served in the R.A.O.C., and was evacuated from Dunkirk. He was discharged from the Army and acted as welfare officer to the R.A.F. Association in Dudley.

He has travelled widely, and has visited the United States both on a Parliamentary mission and independently to study economic questions.

Born in 1904, he went to an elementary school and the London School of Economics.

    Mr. A. Creech Jones, 59, has been Secretary of State for the Colonies fro? 1946, and previously was Under-Secretary for the Colonies. He won Shipley in 1935, and from 1940 to 1945 was Parliamentary Private Secretary to Mr. Bevin. From 1923 to 1930 he was an official of the Transport and General Workers’ Union, and has been organizing secretary of the Workers’ Travel Association. He is a governor of Ruskin College and vice-chairman of the British Institute of Adult Education.

    Mr. L. J. Callaghan was elected for Cardiff South in 1945 and was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport in 1947. He was born in 1912. A member of the Inland Revenue Staff Federation since 1929, he was from 1936 until recently assistant secretary. At the outbreak of war he joined the Navy as an able seaman and was later promoted lieutenant, R.N.V.R. He has visited the West African colonies and Russia, and was chairman of the Defence and Services Committee of the Parliamentary Labour Party, 1945-47.
