    To ask Her Majesty’s Government what assessment they have made of the findings of Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Prisons about the medical treatment in the High Security Unit and Special Security unit in HMP Belmarsh that led to his recommendation that patients should receive confidential medical consultations and treatment that preserves privacy and dignity

    The HSU / SSU is visited daily by a nurse who will speak with every prisoner to establish whether there are any issues. The GP will visit the unit weekly (as a minimum). As part of the HMIP Action Plan that is being developed the Operating Standards are currently under review which will address the issue regarding quarterly reviews.

    The reference in the report was regarding one prisoner who was seen with discipline staff present; the privacy and dignity of prisoners is taken very seriously within HMP Belmarsh, however this must be balanced against the risk that the individual poses to others. Prisoners will be seen without escorting staff unless the risk is deemed to be too high, this is an exceptional circumstance rather than the rule.

However the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) collect, annually, from the individual library authorities comprehensive information relating to library service provision in the United Kingdom, which includes data relating to the questions raised.     FGM is violence against women and girls. The UK has made the largest donor commitment ever to help end FGM, with a flagship programme of £35 million in at least 17 countries.

    The Prime Minister will host a summit in July which will step up global efforts to end both FGM and child, early and forced marriage within a generation.

    To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, which personnel aboard Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers will need to wear active noise cancellation headsets; how many such headsets will be required; and what the cost of such headsets will be.

    The requirement for Active Noise Reduction (ANR) headsets for personnel associated with operating F-35B onboard Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) aircraft carriers will be tailored to individuals’ noise exposure. As with all flight operatives on Aircraft Carriers,this will apply to personnel on the flight deck and not on other areas of the ship. The noise exposure will be dependent upon the operational employment of personnel, which will be defined through the ongoing development of operating procedures. The design specification of the headsets will be commensurate with the noise exposure, and in cognisance of The Control of Noise at Work Regulations, 2005. The preferred product is due to be ordered prior to the QEC entering service.

    To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, what future plans the Government has to utilise funds from the unclaimed life policies or dormant bank accounts.

    On 27 March the Government published a Review of the Dormant Bank and Building Society Accounts Act 2008, which set out the Government’s view on the existing schemes set up in the legislation.

    The Government currently has no plans to use funds from unclaimed life insurance policies, but keeps all policy under review.

    The planned further research involves preliminary tests to investigate the potential use of carbon monoxide in a sett environment. These preliminary tests will not involve the use of either live badgers or active setts. Whether or not we proceed with further research involving live badgers or active setts will depend upon the outcome of these preliminary tests.

    To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what definition his Department uses of an adequate amount of weekly physical activity.

    The UK Chief Medical Officers’ (CMOs) guidelines for physical activity for adults is to be active daily, up to at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity a week. Children and young people should be active for at least 60 minutes and up to several hours every day of moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity. The guidelines were published in July 2011. More information can be found from UK CMOs’ report on physical activity ‘Start Active, Stay Active’. A copy of the report has already been placed in the Library.
