Luke Hall – 2016 Parliamentary Question to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, if he will provide details of what additional (a) support and (b) resources his Department is providing to assist South Gloucestershire Council in meeting its universal broadband obligations.

The Government has implemented a basic broadband scheme to enable all premises to gain access to speeds of at least 2Mbps. This enables residents to gain access to every Government service available online. Funding for subsidised connections through the scheme is provided by Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) as part of the government’s superfast broadband programme. Consumers in eligible premises can access services from any of the suppliers who have been entered onto the scheme by BDUK.

In addition it is the Government’s intention to implement a new broadband Universal Service Obligation. This will give people the legal right to request a broadband connection, no matter where they live, by the end of this Parliament. Our ambition is that this should initially be set at 10 Mbps.

Catherine West – 2016 Parliamentary Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, what level of funding his Department has allocated to schemes that encourage investment in wave energy in each of the last five years.

Over the past five years, solar photovoltaic (PV), wind, wave and tidal electricity projects have received support from either the Renewables Obligation (RO) or the Feed-in Tariff (FITs).

Expenditure through the Renewables Obligation in 2011/12 to 2015/16 can be broken down by power generation technology shown in the table (£million in nominal prices). Solar PV and some small-scale onshore wind are also supported by the Feed In Tariff scheme, but costs are not available disaggregated by technology. Total support is shown below (£million).

The National Crime Agency (NCA) disseminates intelligence and information relating to child sexual exploitation for police forces to investigate on a regular basis.

The NCA made the following number of disseminations in relation to child sexual exploitation and abuse, which includes on-line abuse, to territorial police forces in the UK:

Louise Ellman – 2016 Parliamentary Question to the Department for Transport

The below Parliamentary question was asked by Louise Ellman on 2016-01-19.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what tests were undertaken by (a) the Vehicle Certification Agency, (b) the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency and (c) any other testing authority as part of in-service emissions testing in each of the last 10 years; and which models were tested in each such year.

Tests which were undertaken by the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) include the in service light duty testing programme, which were conducted in accordance with the New European Drive Cycle requirements.

Aftermarket alterations tests were conducted in accordance with the European Transient Cycle and North London Delivery Truck Cycle. Light duty emissions followed the New European Drive Cycle requirements.

The models that were tested by VCA in the last ten years can be found in the table below.

As reported previously, following the work in 2010-2011, the focus of emissions testing changed to consider aftermarket alteration of vehicles, both light and heavy duty.

I would also refer the Hon Member to my answer of 20 January 2016, UIN 22742 (http://www.parliament.uk/business/publications/written-questions-answers-statements/written-questions-answers/?page=1&max=20&questiontype=AllQuestions&house=commons%2clords&uin=22742) for the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, which tabled the number of MOT in service emission tests conducted in the last 10 years. The models subject to this test would cover every manufacturers model range subject to the MOT test during this period.

The Department for Transport does not hold information on work carried out by other testing authorities.

David Hanson – 2016 Parliamentary Question to the Home Office

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many undeclared passengers were identified by the Border Force in each of the last five years.

For the purpose of this question Border Force have assumed that ‘undeclared passenger’ means any passenger travelling in any mode of transport whose movement has not been notified in the prescribed manner.

Border Force does not collate records of ‘undeclared passengers’. But it works closely with aircraft operators, pilots and others to maximise the provision of Advance Passenger Information in all modes.

My Department has not made an assessment of the effect of this decision. It is for Network Rail to ensure the right approach to its insurance cover to provide value for money, in line with Managing Public Money guidance.

Roger Godsiff – 2016 Parliamentary Question to the Department of Health

The below Parliamentary question was asked by Roger Godsiff on 2016-05-18.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what assessment he has made of the effect of the changes to junior doctors’ contracts and NHS working patterns on hospices and other institutions providing end of life care.

Most junior doctors working in hospices do so as either a volunteer or as part of their training placement with a National Health Service trust or foundation trust, who under the new contract will appoint a guardian of safe working hours.

It was also agreed in the May negotiations that non-hospital employers with fewer than 10 trainees (this could include palliative care) must contract the guardian of safe working hours at a neighbouring NHS trust to oversee the safe working of trainees.

The trainees affected by these arrangements will be represented in the Junior Doctor Forum and the Guardian must either be familiar with the issues face by the trainees working in the relevant setting or have access to support and advice on such issues.

Hospices will decide locally how to deploy trainee doctors and on-call arrangements.

For the Basic Payment Scheme 2016 over 80% of farmers chose to apply online.

For the Basic Payment Scheme 2017 the Rural Payments Agency will have a planned campaign of activity to encourage as many as possible of the remaining 20% of customers that applied on paper to apply online.
