BIOGRAPHY :

Cmdr. R. A. Allan had a distinguished career in the Royal Navy and was the youngest officer to hold the rank of commander in the R.N.V.R. For his war service he was awarded the D.S.O., the O.B.E., French Legion of Honour, and American Legion of Merit, and was four times mentioned in dispatches. For a time he was attached to the British Embassy, Washington, and is interested in Anglo-American relations. He contested Dunbartonshire in 1945.
