To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, what her Department’s policy is on the future development of tidal lagoons in the UK.

The Government recognises the potential that exists in harnessing tidal energy around the coastline of the UK.

That is why we are commissioning an independent strategic review to assess the case for tidal lagoons and consider whether they could represent value for money for the consumer.

Government will carefully consider the recommendations from the review before making decisions on future development of tidal lagoons.

Luciana Berger – 2016 Parliamentary Question to the Department of Health

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how many and what proportion of attendees at the NHS England Mental Health Crisis Care Summit were mental health service users.

The second mental health Crisis Care Concordat national summit was held on 24 November 2015, hosted jointly by the Department and Mind.

The event concentrated on progress with improving crisis care since the launch of the Concordat in February 2014. The Summit was full, with 250 delegates and speakers. All delegates were Concordat activists – either involved in their local Crisis Concordat groups or representatives from national signatory and supporter organisations. People with lived experience and carers attended, as well as members of the National Survivor User Network. Some attendees will have been present representing their organisations but also will have had lived experience, and it is therefore not possible to calculate the number of those attendees who were mental health service users.

All Departmental conferences involve stakeholders and service users as part of the preparation process.

No civil servants at the Department for Education are employed through limited companies.

We award contracts to individuals or organisations through their limited companies but the number of those could only be provided at disproportionate costs.

The Department for Exiting the European Union has responsibility for overseeing preparations for the withdrawal of the UK from the EU and conducting these withdrawal negotiations in support of the Prime Minister. In doing this it is working very closely with other government departments, including the Office of the Leader of the House of Commons, and a wide range of other interested parties.

To ask Her Majesty’s Government what will be the status in the UK of European Court of Justice case law on EU legal instruments which remain in force in the UK after it leaves the EU.

The Government will bring forward legislation in the next session that, when enacted, will repeal the European Communities Act 1972 on the day we leave the EU. This ‘Great Repeal Bill’ will end the authority of EU law and return power to the UK.

The Government will set out the content of the Bill and its implications in due course.

Maria Eagle – 2015 Parliamentary Question to the Ministry of Defence

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what the target strength is for the Royal Navy Reserve.

I refer the hon. Member to the Written Statement made by my right hon. Friend the previous Secretary of State for Defence (Philip Hammond) on 19 December 2013, (Official Report, column 124WS) on Future Reserves 2020, and the accompanying document that was placed in the Library of the House which sets out the planned growth of the trained strength of the Reserve Forces, together with the enlistment targets for the next five years.

I also refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave on 20 October 2015 to the hon. Member for Strangford (Mr Shannon) to Question 11812 which explained the improvements we have made to ensure we reach our target strength of 35,000 trained volunteer Reservists by 31 March 2019.

Member to my written ministerial statement of 17 December 2015, (Official Report, column 98WS) which sets out that we only centrally collate data on embedded forces with those nations with whom UK forces are embedded on operations, and to my letter of 6 January 2016 explaining that I am unable to specify the exact locations of UK personnel because this risks their personal security and the security of Allies’ operations.

Tulip Siddiq – 2016 Parliamentary Question to the Department for Education

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, how many and which (a) academies and (b) free schools applied to the Secretary of State to have their funding arrangements changed to allow them to vary their school admissions requirements in each year since 2009-10; and which such applications were approved.

In total, between 2012 and 2016, three requests have been considered by the Education Funding Agency (EFA) to vary in-year admissions arrangements of academies and free schools outside of the normal admissions timeframe. One relates to an academy and two to free schools. The two applications from the free schools were approved. The EFA was established in April 2012. We do not hold figures relating to this question prior to this date.

The table below sets out the number of requests from academies and free schools considered and approved by the EFA from 2012-13:
