Mr. Rea, aged 42, has been a Socialist for 15 years, and is chairman of the Labour Party in Battle, where he keeps an hotel. During the war he served five years in the Intelligence Corps.

Educated at Haileybury he commanded the 96th H.A.A., R.A., in 1939, and in 1942 was commander of the 3rd Indian A.A. Regt.

Later he served in North Africa with the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, and was wounded in Italy.
