The recommendation to base the replacement communication system, for the
emergency services, on a commercially available network was agreed during
development of the Emergency Service Mobile Communications Programme Business
Case. This preferred direction of travel and alternative options, were briefed
to ACPO, and were written with the involvement, assurance and approval of the 3
emergency services, funding departments and the devolved governments of Wales
and Scotland.

Neither my Rt hon Friend the Secretary of State nor I have met with the Scottish Government to discuss the introduction of a Right to Move scheme for social tenants. Under the terms of devolution responsibility for housing, and that of social housing is the responsibility of Scottish Government Ministers. HomeSwap Direct however, does operate across the United Kingdom for those tenants wishing to mutually exchange within the social housing sphere.

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what funding his Department has agreed to provide in future years for former Remploy Employment Services; and until what year such funding will continue.

The Department agrees Remploy funding and performance targets, including Work Choice job outcome targets on an annual basis. Remploy’s performance targets for 2013/14 were published in Hansard on 31 October 2013, column 60WS by Written Ministerial Statement confirming publication of Remploy Annual Report and Accounts 2013. Remploy performance targets and funding for 2014/15 will be published alongside the 2014 accounts later this year.

The Citizen’s Advice Bureau’s Report, Give us a Break, was a formal submission to the Ministerial Review of Workplace Rights, Compliance and Enforcement and therefore this Department assessed the report along with other submissions to the review. The written Ministerial Statement following the review was laid in parliament on 10th July 2012. We continually review a broad range of evidence. As outlined in reply of 6 May 2014, Official Report, column 87W, the right to paid annual leave is an important right, and we would urge workers who feel they are not receiving it to contact the Pay and Work Rights Helpline (0800 917 2368) or Acas (www.acas.org.uk) for free and confidential advice.

As I indicated in my answer of 13 September 2013, Official Report, Column 884W, Ministers in this Department do not believe it is appropriate for public resources to be used to support the collection and administration of membership subscriptions and believe is an outdated and unnecessary 20th century practice.
It is also unsatisfactory that some trade unions collect the political levy via check-off, but make no attempt to inform would-be members that the political levy is optional, or even mention the right to opt out on their membership forms. It is the view of Ministers that this is a misleading and dubious marketing practice through omission.
I can confirm that we are taking further steps to review such practices.
