The Chancellor has announced details of the reform to Business Rates nationally whereby Local Government will be able to retain 100% of Business Rates. The government will set out in due course the implications of this reform for London

    HM Treasury has no knowledge of a recent report concluded by the FCA on retail investment advice. If the Honourable Member is referring to the recent Financial Advice Market Review, which was a joint initiative by HM Treasury and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) launched in August 2015, this review has not yet concluded.

    The Treasury will lay before Parliament any FCA reports or other documents which the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 requires to be laid before Parliament.

    As stated in the most recent HM Treasury annual report and accounts (2014-15), the department’s communications during 2014-15 focused on ensuring the public and stakeholders understood changes to government economic and fiscal policy. The department continues to pursue a low cost communications approach, making full use of media relationships and social media.

    The information requested is not collected nationally. The overall size of the Better Care Fund (BCF) in 2015-16 is £5.3 billion. A published analysis of the BCF plans indicated that local areas were planning to allocate £2.3 billion to social care (43% of total planned expenditure) over 2015-16.

    As the Prime Minister recently confirmed at the UK-hosted Anti-Corruption Summit the UK and DFID are committed to tackling corruption with new measures to reduce opportunities, punish the perpetrators and empower people to demand that it stops. Corruption impacts on all aspects of public life in Pakistan. DFID Pakistan is working to support the Government of Pakistan, civil society and the private sector to address corruption by improving the business environment, creating more effective institutions and engaging citizens for better service delivery and accountability. By supporting reforms to the taxation sector, DFID Pakistan is seeking to support the Government of Pakistan to make it easier for tax payers to submit payments directly, thus reducing the opportunity for corruption. By supporting reforms to the management of public funds, and improving access to information DFID Pakistan seeks to further limit the opportunities for corruption by public officials. By supporting parliament, political parties and citizen groups, DFID and other cross-Government interventions ensure that the democratic institutions are more accountable and the state as a whole is more responsive to the needs and aspirations of the Pakistani people.

    We have no plans to take any action over this issue. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office advise against all travel to Gaza including the waters off Gaza. We also advise British Nationals against participating in flotillas or overland convoys to Gaza because of the risks involved.
