It is important that we do ensure good documentation of major projects across government to learn from the past and ensure knowledge is shared easily. I will consider in due course what is the right way to do this but the advertised recruitment is not going ahead.

  • Nicholas Soames – 2015 Parliamentary Question to the Ministry of Defence

Nicholas Soames – 2015 Parliamentary Question to the Ministry of Defence

The below Parliamentary question was asked by Nicholas Soames on 2015-10-30.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, which category (a) A, (b) B, and (c) C projects are managed by (i) Navy Command, (ii) Army Command, (iii) Air Command, (iv) Joint Forces Command and (v) the Strategic Programmes Directorate.

    Mr Philip Dunne

This information is not held centrally and collating which individual category A, B, and C projects are managed by each of the Front-Line Commands would incur disproportionate cost.

Further information on equipment projects can be found in the published Defence Equipment Plan 2015 and Major Projects Authority Annual Report 2015, both of which can be found in the Library of the House.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what support the Government is providing to tackle people-smuggling in the Mediterranean.

    Mrs Theresa May

We have established an Organised Immigration Crime Taskforce of 100 officers from the NCA, Crown Prosecution Service, and the Home Office to disrupt organised immigration crime groups upstream, including through the Mediterranean routes, and in the UK. The UK is also supporting the EU Naval Forces Operation in the Mediterranean. We are determined to disrupt organised immigration criminal activities which impact adversely on our security and have such a wanton disregard for human life.

Tim Loughton – 2016 Parliamentary Question to the Home Office

The below Parliamentary question was asked by Tim Loughton on 2016-01-29.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, for what reason she has not yet brought forward proposals to include the names of mothers on their children’s marriage certificates.

    James Brokenshire

There is agreement that the names of both parents should be included in the marriage entry. The Home Office has, therefore, been working with all interested parties to consider the most efficient and effective way to achieve this. Doing so is likely to require additional funding and changes to legislation, IT systems and administrative processes.

A timetable will be confirmed for changes as soon as there is an opportunity to legislate on this matter.
