STORY
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has announced the appointment of Duncan Norman MBE as the next His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan. Norman is scheduled to take up his new diplomatic post in Baku during May 2026, where he will succeed the current ambassador, Fergus Auld OBE, who will be transitioning to a different Appointment in the Diplomatic Service.
Norman has served as a Deputy Director within the National Security Secretariat’s Joint Funds Unit from 2023 to 2024. His recent portfolio also includes high-level roles addressing international crises and recovery efforts, having served as Deputy Director for the Ukraine Recovery Conference Unit and within the Home Office’s International Criminality Directorate.
