BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. W. J. Brown sat as Labour M.P. for West Wolverhampton in the 1929-31 Parliament, but afterwards left the Labour Party and was twice unsuccessful before he won Rugby at a by-election in 1942 as an?Independent candidate. Born in 1909, he entered the Civil Service. From 1919 to 1942 he was general secretary of the Civil Service Clerical Association, and since 1942 has been its Parliamentary general secretary. He is a broadcaster and writer on current affairs.
