BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. D. Griffiths, 54, won Rother Valley in 1945. At 13 he was a mine worker, and then for 17 years was a trade union official for the Hickleton Main blanch of the Yorkshire Mine-workers’ Association. Elected to Dearne Urban Council in 1925, he was chairman three times before retiring in 1945. He was also a member of the former Don Valley Board of Guardians and of Swinton and District Isolation Hospital committee.
