BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. G. Swanton, 27, was born at Portsea, Portsmouth and is a tool maker. He joined the Communist Party in 1942 and is a member of the Hants, Dorset, and district committee of the party. He has been an A.E.U. shop steward, and is chairman of the A.E.U. branch at Copnor, Portsmouth. He stood as Communist candidate for the Portsmouth City Council in 1949 and was defeated.
