BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. J. J. Astor, is the youngest son of Viscount Astor. Aged 31, and educated at Eton and Oxford, Mr. Astor joined the Life Guards Supplementary Reserve in 1939 and served as a major in the Commandos at Dieppe and with airborne forces in Italy, France, Germany, and Norway, being awarded the Legion d’Honneur and the Croix de Guerre by the French. In 1949 he became secretary to Mr. R. A. Butler and was secretary to the British delegation at the Commonwealth Conference in Canada.
