BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. R. D. Scott is a B.A. in Agriculture of Magdalene College, Cambridge, and a farmer. Born in 1901, he was M.P. for the Wansbeck division of Northumberland from 1940 to 1945, and for a time was Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture and chairman of the advisory committee on hill farming. For 10 years he was a member of the Rothbury Rural District Council, and has been chairman of his local branch of the National Farmers’ Union.
