BIOGRAPHY :

Sir Robert Cary was member for Eccles, 1935-45, and served several ministers as Parliamentary private secretary. In the ” caretaker ” Government he was a Lord Commissioner of the Treasury. After unsuccessfully contesting a by-election at Ashton-under-Lyne, he worked in the Conservative Central Office. Born in 1898, he was educated at Ardingly and Sandhurst, and served in the Army, 1916-23, and again in the last war.
