BIOGRAPHY :

Lt.-Col. J. R. H. Hutchison, member for the division from 1945 to the dissolution, is a shipowner who for many years was the Glasgow representative in the Chamber of Shipping. A veteran of the 1914-18 war, in which he served with the Lanarkshire Yeomanry, he worked with the underground movement in France in the 1939-45 war, and as his features were well known to the Germans he submitted to surgical treatment which made a permanent alteration. Born in 1893, he was educated at Harrow.
