BIOGRAPHY :

Cmdr. R. C. D. Grimes was educated at Derby School and went to sea as a midshipman towards the end of the first war. He retired from the Navy in 1945 after 25 years’ service, which included two commissions in China and one in New Zealand. He was on convoy service in the last war. He is managing director of a family drapery business, and a member of Derby Town Council.
