BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. H. Ashton, a company director and farming 300 acres at Ingat’e-stone, is Deputy Lieutenant and has been High Sheriff of the county, and is vice-chairman of Essex County Council and president of Essex County Cricket Club. Born in 1898, he was educated at Winchester and Cambridge, where he gained a triple blue in cricket, football, and hockey. He won the M.C. in the first world war.
