BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. W. F. Deedes, born in 1913 in East Kent where his family has been established as farmers in the Romney Marsh district for 450 years, was educated at Harrow, and is a Fleet Street journalist and served as a war correspondent in Abyssinia in 1935. He joined the Queen’s Westminsters and served during the war in north-west Europe. He was awarded the M.C. He lives near Ashford, and his grandfather and great-grandfather represented the division, then known as East Kent, as Conservative M.P.s.
