    The post of Chief Defence Materiel has been merged with that of Chief Executive of Defence Equipment and Support and therefore no longer exists as a separate post. A competition will be held for the Chief Executive of Defence Equipment and Support in late 2014 in time for the current incumbent’s contract end date on 3 January 2015

    Ofsted can inspect local authorities to see whether they are fulfilling a number of statutory duties. Academy head offices do not have the same statutory duties. However, Ofsted already inspects academy chains through batched inspections. It has recently undertaken focused inspections of academies within E-ACT multi-academy trust, and has previously inspected a group of academies within the AET chain.

    Public Health England (PHE) has incurred no expenditure with professional consultancy firms of the nature described in the Cabinet Office definition of Consultancy.

    However, PHE sought approval under the Department’s Professional Services approvals route for £8.1million of contingent labour where the daily rate of the individuals concerned was more than £220 per day. This involves approval by the Chief Executive of PHE, by the Department’s Procurement and by the Department’s Financial Approvals Panel.

    The Government is committed to modernising courts and using technology to improve efficiency.

    The average (median) number of days taken from charge to first listing in court for completed criminal cases (domestic violence, sexual abuse and rape) in England and Wales, annually 2010 – 2013, can be found in Table 1.

    The way in which offence level data is collected and reported means that some offences are not separately identifiable from others. The information presented in table 1 relates only to those offences which can be separately identified from others and relates specifically to the legislation listed under a given category. Statistics on domestic violence have not been provided due to the reason outlined above and therefore excluded from table 1.
