    To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what the cost was of running (a) the Case Resolution Directorate, (b) the Case Assurance and Audit Unit and (c) the Older Live Cases Unit in each year of those bodies’ operations.

    The operational costs of running the Case Resolution Directorate (excluding
    enforcement costs, detention and removal escort costs or asylum and immigration
    tribunal costs) was approximately £32 million per year. The costs are inclusive
    of an outsourced administrative function in 2009-2011. Support costs for
    applicants were accounted for separately for this period.

    The total running costs of the Case Assurance and Audit Unit was £27.4 million
    (2011/ 2012) and £19. 5million (2012/ 2013). The total running costs of the Older Live
    Cases Unit was £7.8 million (2013/ 2014). The Older Live Cases Unit budget spend to
    date for 2014/ 2015 is £1.87 million. Since setting up the Case Resolution Directorate,
    operational running costs have decreased year on year.

    To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, when he expects the new Maritime and Coastguard Agency Maritime Operations Centre in Fareham to be fully operational.

    The National Maritime Operations Centre (NMOC) will commence operational duties in September 2014 when it takes on the operational areas previously covered by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centres (MRCC) at Solent and Portland. The capacity and coverage of the NMOC will geographically expand as the new national network is incrementally implemented around the UK. The NMOC will be fully operational once this is complete in December 2015 as planned.

    The Government recognises that register integrity is an important issue. This Department is carefully considering with Companies House and others what checks are necessary to ensure integrity of data and that the registration of company information in the UK remains quick, simple and inexpensive.

    The current UK register is one of the most open in the world, and is accessed over 240 million times a year. This means the information is policed on a significant scale by the public, who report anomalies to Companies House for follow up.

    To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what steps his Department is taking to raise awareness about steps to protect and preserve rainforests worldwide.

    Defra is the UK competent authority for the European Timber Regulation (EUTR) and the Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) Regulation, which are designed to counter illegal logging and help protect rainforests. Information on both is published on Defra’s Central Point of Expertise for Timber Procurement (CPET). Information on EUTR is also published on GOV.UK. The National Measurement Office, which enforces EUTR and FLEGT on Defra’s behalf, speaks at numerous events at which it raises awareness of the legislation.

    Defra is responsible for £140 million of the International Climate Fund (ICF) dedicated to international forestry projects. Our ICF spending so far has targeted rainforest deforestation in Brazil and contributed towards the World Bank’s Biocarbon Fund. Case studies of ICF projects are described on GOV.UK, and details of ICF spending are made available through the International Aid Transparency Initiative.

    NHS England intends to continue to fund the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) audit as part of the NCAPOP (National Clinical Audit and Patient Outcomes Programme).

    The COPD and asthma outcomes strategy was published by the Department around the time of the National Health Service transition to the current structures. It was designed to help NHS commissioners understand the key evidence based and cost effective interventions which would improve the quality of care for patients with COPD. As such, it was not intended to be supported by an implementation plan.

    In May 2012, the Department published the NHS Companion Document to the Outcomes Strategy, setting out how the NHS can implement changes at a local level.

    The Legal Aid Agency (LAA) rightly has a zero tolerance approach to fraud and works in partnership with the law enforcement agencies to support prosecution where appropriate. According to internal management information there were six convictions for fraud against the Agency in 2011/12, one in 2012/13 and one in 2013/14.
