To ask Her Majesty’s Government how many cases are currently being dealt with by the Channel programme, and how many of those have been because of suspected vulnerability to extremist Islamist views, and how many for other reasons.

Since Channel was rolled out nationally in 2012, over 4000 people have been referred to the programme, and hundreds successfully supported. National Counter Terrorism Policing has published its own data on Channel at the following URL:

Chris Law – 2016 Parliamentary Question to the Scotland Office

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland, what discussions he has had with Cabinet colleagues on the City Deal for Dundee and neighbouring authorities; and when the Government plans to make a decision on that deal.

I have met separately with local authorities in Dundee, Angus and Perth and I was able to confirm that the UK Government is interested to hear from any local authority or group of local authorities interested in pursuing a City Deal. To date, we have not received formal proposals from any of those Councils.

David Anderson – 2016 Parliamentary Question to the Ministry of Defence

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, pursuant to the Answer of 16 February 2016 to Question 26409, what squadrons or elements other than Reaper Squadrons 39 and 13 make up the Reaper force as a whole.

No other squadrons or elements make up the Reaper Force. However, individuals in Reaper Force posts who are to be embedded with other countries’ armed forces are usually allocated to 54(Reserve) Squadron, for administrative reasons.

Tom Pursglove – 2016 Parliamentary Question to the Attorney General

The below Parliamentary question was asked by Tom Pursglove on 2016-04-08.

To ask the Attorney General, pursuant to the Answer of 23 March 2016 to Question 31332, if he will estimate the cost of collecting information on the nationality of offenders referred to the court.

The nationality of offenders referred to the court is not collated centrally.

The Ministry of Justice hold data on foreign nationals held in prisons in England and Wales and publish statistics quarterly. The data does not include those offenders who receive non-custodial sentences.

To obtain even the limited data which is held would require the consideration of the files in all cases over the past three years where the Court of Appeal increased a sentence of imprisonment previously imposed to ascertain if they contained sufficient information for the data to be requested from the Ministry of Justice.

The process that would have to be undertaken would incur costs above the current disproportionate cost threshold and would in any event only provide the nationality for a limited number of offenders referred to the court.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, whether the P-8 Poseidon will be capable of carrying UK Storm Shadow and other manufactured munitions.

The Department intends to bring the P-8A into service without significant modification to ensure the delivery of operational capability as soon as is practicable. There are no current plans to integrate Stormshadow or other UK manufactured weapons onto the aircraft.

Drew Hendry – 2016 Parliamentary Question to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, whether her Department has made an assessment of the potential merits of establishing a statutory social tariff for broadband services.

We are committed to introducing a new broadband Universal Service Obligation (USO) within this Parliament. The USO will give households and businesses the legal right to request a broadband connection with speeds of at least 10 Megabits, no matter where they live or work.

Ofcom are preparing advice and recommendations for Government on the design of the broadband USO, and we have asked them specifically to consider a social tariff to make sure it is affordable for all. Ofcom will report on its findings by the end of the year and we will consider them as part of our decision.

Lord Taylor of Warwick – 2016 Parliamentary Question to the Department for Work and Pensions

To ask Her Majesty’s Government why they propose to cut £4.4 billion from benefits for disabled people over the course of the Parliament.

We spend around £50bn every year on benefits alone to support people with disabilities or health conditions, with spending on Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Disability Living Allowance (DLA) having increased by more than £3 billion since 2010.

The government has no further plans to make welfare savings, beyond those already announced. The government is committed to talking to disabled people, their representatives, healthcare professionals and employers to ensure the welfare system works better with the health and social care systems and provides help and support to those who need it most.
