To ask the Secretary of State for Education, if she will make an assessment of the potential effect on disadvantaged students of the Education Funding Agency discontinuing funding for summer school programmes.

The recent Spending Review confirmed that we will protect the pupil premium at its current rates for the duration of this Parliament, so that schools will continue to attract additional funding for their disadvantaged pupils. To achieve this settlement for schools, we have had to make difficult decisions about a number of smaller grants. The grant for the summer schools programme will therefore not continue next financial year. Secondary schools can continue to run a summer school if they wish to, and will be able to use their pupil premium allocation to fund places for their disadvantaged pupils.

There were no academy schools open in Burnley during 2010 to 2014. 2015 data will be available in June 2016.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what discussions he has had with the Indian government on the need to de-escalate tensions between the Indian army and protestors in Northern Kashmir.

I was saddened to learn of the deaths of 5 civilians last week in Northern Kashmir, and I extend my condolences to their families. I have not discussed this issue with the Indian Government or with other Commonwealth Countries, but I am aware that the State Government and the Army are both looking into these incidents.

Our Childhood Obesity Strategy, which will be launched in the summer, will look at everything that contributes to a child becoming overweight and obese. It will set out what more can be done by all.

The percentage of pupils who are eligible for free school meals and attain level 4 or above in key stage 2 reading, mathematics and writing, is published in the “National curriculum assessments at key stage 2: 2015,” statistical first release[1].

To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, what estimate he has made of the financial contribution of the solar power industry to the UK economy in (a) 2010, (b) 2011, (c) 2012, (d) 2013, (e) 2014 and (f) 2015.

Information on the financial contribution of the solar power industry to the UK economy is not available. Solar electricity generation has been incentivised by the support under the Renewables Obligation, Contract for Difference and the Small Scale Feed in Tariff schemes. Information on private sectorinvestment from 2010-2014 is obtainable from the March 2015 DECC publication, “Delivering UK Energy Investment“ which is available here https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/419024/DECC_LowCarbonEnergyReport.pdf

The Office for National Statistics are due to publish a sector report on solar in February 2016 as part of their Low Carbon and Renewable Economy Survey for 2014 which is likely to provide further relevant information.
