To ask Her Majesty’s Government what progress they have made in meeting their target of collecting and sequencing 100,000 human genomes by 2017.

Almost 10,000 people have been involved in the 100,000 Genomes Project so far,with more joining through the NHS Genomic Medicine Centres each day.The Project will sequence 100,000 whole genomes from around 70,000 people.Cancer patients have their genome and the genome of their cancer sequenced. Rare disease patients have their genome sequenced as do two of their blood relatives.
As at 12 October 5,234 whole genomes had been sequenced and added to the data centre.Substantial progress has been made across all aims of the project including the establishment of 11 NHS Genomics Medicine Centres who are actively recruiting participants and the first rare disease patients being diagnosed.

To ask Her Majesty’s Government how many persons imprisoned for sexual offences have been returned to prison after failing lie detector tests by polygraph; and how many were referred for polygraph tests in the last period for which statistics are available.

Polygraph tests for certain sexual offenders on licensed supervision in the community first became available in August 2014. As of October 2015, 681 sexual offenders had been made subject to polygraph testing as a license condition and had been referred for testing to the National Offender Management Service. As of the same date, 22 sexual offenders were recalled as a result of disclosures which they had made in connection with their polygraph test, whilst one was recalled for failing to attend a test which had been arranged.

As the Minister for Courts told the House on 15 October 2015, we took the decision not to outsource HMCTS compliance and enforcement services to a single supplier because of the need to ensure that any contract we let provided the best value for the taxpayer.

The overall turnover rates in the 2014-15 financial year were 12.8% and 11.1% respectively. The turnover figures include all staff leaving the organisation, including those who transferred to another Government Department but remained in Civil Service employment, including those that transferred as a result of machinery of government changes. The Department’s Digital team is only made up of 9 staff, therefore small numbers of leavers heavily skew the turnover figures.

There were 756 training places commissioned for improving access to psychological therapies (IAPT) programmes in 2014/15. In addition 509 trainees attended Child and Young People’s (CYP) IAPT courses in 2014/15.
