He is a well-known cricketer, having played for Worcestershire, the Army, the M.C.C., and All Egypt. His wife was Conservative candidate at Darlington He was born in 1899.

During the war he served in the R.A.F. as a flight lieutenant in the Air Ministry Secret Branch. He was a member of Esher Urban Council from 1934 to 1946, is a liveryman of the Solicitors’ Company, and a freeman of the City of London.
