    To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, pursuant to the Answer of 10 April 2014, Official Report, column 318W, on housing benefit: social rented housing, how many housing benefit social sector tenants have been (a) given exempt status because they reached state pension credit age and (b) allowed to keep an extra bedroom because they are (i) registered foster carers who have fostered a child during the last 52 weeks and (ii) parents of armed forces’ personnel who have been deployed on operations.

    a) – The information relating to the numbers reaching state pension credit age who are no longer subject to the removal of the spare room subsidy is not available.

    We can say that there are estimated to be 700,000 housing benefit tenants who are state pension credit age and have one or more spare bedrooms.

    b) i) – Information relating to registered foster carers is not available.

    b) ii) – Information relating to parents of armed forces’ personnel is not available.

    The Department has made its position on abortion, including the illegality of abortion on the grounds of gender alone, clear to all providers, including the British Pregnancy Advisory Service. The Department will do so again in the forthcoming further guidance.

    The School Food Trust (now the Children’s Food Trust) wrote to more than 1,500 academies in January 2012. Of the 641 academies that replied, 635 said they were committed to following the new food standards, even though they are not required to do so.

    To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, when her Department’s Personal Advocate Pilot for trafficked children will start; how non-governmental organisations will participate in the schemes; and when each pilot scheme in each participating local authority will start and end.

    The Modern Slavery Bill will enable us to strengthen our response to human
    trafficking and modern slavery for both adults and children. We announced in
    January our intention to trial specialist independent advocates for victims of
    child trafficking.

    23 local authorities that represent a wide demographic range as well as major
    transport hubs and asylum screening units have agreed to participate in the
    trial. These areas also have the highest rates of trafficking referrals to the
    National Referral Mechanism or are areas where we are aware of a high number of
    trafficking investigations by law enforcement agencies.

    We are currently considering bids from a number of voluntary and community
    services organisations that were identified as potential providers of the
    advocacy service because of the particular expertise they hold. When the trial
    goes live we will invite a number of relevant stakeholders, including
    non-governmental organisations, to inform the project through a consultative
    group.

    We have to consider this matter following the passing in the Lords of an
    amendment to the Immigration Bill that has put on hold our proposals for these
    trials.

    The introduction of single fraud investigation service will ensure that all allegations of local authority welfare benefit fraud are investigated appropriately in accordance with a single policy. As such the SFIS project strengthens the approach to investigating and tackling welfare benefit fraud in local authorities.
