    To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, what recent estimate his Department has made of the level of unscrupulous money lending in (a) the UK, (b) East Midlands, (c) Nottinghamshire and (d) Ashfield in each of the last five years.

    The Government has not made an estimate about levels of unscrupulous money lending. The National Audit Office estimated that unaddressed detriment in the UK consumer credit market cost consumers £450m in 2011-12.

    The Government has fundamentally reformed regulation of the consumer credit market. The new, more robust Financial Conduct Authority regime will help to deliver the Government’s vision for a well functioning and sustainable consumer credit market which is able to meet consumers’ needs.

    The number of people (paid and unpaid civil servants as well as agency and
    contractors substituting as civil servants) employed by UK Visas and
    Immigration on 31st March 2014 was 7,107 (6,598.67 Full Time Equivalent).

    In line with Office for National statistics guidelines, all government
    departments are required to report their official statistics relating to
    numbers of employees using calendar month end dates. This answer has therefore
    been provided using information as at 31st March 2014 rather than 1st April
    2014.

    Allegations of breaches in the Abortion Act are taken extremely seriously. They will be referred to the police either as a result of these being brought to the Department’s attention or in the event of investigations by NHS England (under its contractual and general practitioner regulatory frameworks).

    To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what assessment he has made of the ability of non-registered medical professionals to gauge mental or physical health risks posed by a pregnancy for the purpose of judging whether or not the criteria of the Abortion Act 1967 are met.

    The Abortion Act 1967 sets out that two doctors must certify that in their opinion, which must be formed in good faith, a request for an abortion meets at least one (and the same) of the grounds set out in the Act.

    The Department’s view that registered medical practitioners should be able to show how they have considered the particular facts of a case when forming their opinion, for example by making notes in the patient record. They should be able to defend how their decision was reached if asked to justify it at a later date.
