    To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what the cost to his Department was of the recent visit to the MFA Tidespring by Lady Boyce; and whether his Department plans for Lady Boyce to make further such visits.

    The cost to the Ministry of Defence of Lady Boyce attending the naming ceremony of RFA Tidespring was £5,418. This includes the cost of transfer to the airport from Lady Boyce’s home and the flights of Lord and Lady Boyce to the Republic of Korea (ROK).

    Costs of accommodation and transfers within the ROK were funded separately under the contract with Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME). The costs of the naming ceremonies arising under the contract are not separately identified.

    There are no plans to invite Lady Boyce to act as the Lady Sponsor for the remaining three ships in the class. Lady Boyce will, however, be invited to attend the planned events scheduled for when the ships arrive in the UK.

    To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what steps his Department has taken to improve the broadband speed in the Bristol West area.

    Over 1,450 businesses in Bristol and the surrounding area have taken a broadband connection voucher to improve their broadband connectivity. In addition, through the Super Connected Cities Programme, my Department has provided £1.56m to Bristol City Council to install general purpose ducting which will provide broadband connectivity to businesses in the Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone. This funding has also enabled over 70km of ducting to be made available to two commercial suppliers to provide ultra-fast broadband across the city.

    Last week, the Government announced new measures to eradicate gender inequality in the workplace, including forcing larger public sector employersto publish information about their bonuses for men and women and extending plans for gender pay gap reporting.

    To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, if he will introduce further proposals to protect airfields from redevelopment.

    National planning policy already requires local planning authorities to take account of airfields’ growth and role in serving business, leisure, training and emergency needs. In March we issued guidance emphasising the need for local planning authorities to have regard to the extent to which an aerodrome contributes to connectivity outside the authority’s own boundaries.

    Currently, all airfields, as land that has been previously developed, are regarded as brownfield land.

    We will work with the aviation sector to ensure the current policy relating to development on airfields is better understood.
