Air Cdre. A. V. Harvey, who is 43, has been M.P. since 1945. Before the war he formed the Flying Training School at Hongkong. In 1939 he commanded one of the first fighter squadrons to go to France, and later commanded a Fighter Sector in the Battle of Britain. Vice – chairman of the Conservative Party committee on civil aviation, he was also chairman of an all-party committee interested in the silk industry.

Mr. Wilfred Roberts was born in 1900, and is a son of Alderman Charles Roberts, chairman of the Cumberland County Council, and the late Lady Cecilia Roberts, a daughter of the ninth Earl of Carlisle, and was educated at Gresham School and Balliol College, Oxford. Since 1935 he had been Liberal M.P. for the former North Cumberland division. In the second world war he was commissioned in The Border Regiment, later becoming Parliamentary private secretary to Sir Archibald Sinclair, Secretary of State for Air, and since 1947 has been chairman of the Liberal Party Press and Publicity Committee.

Viscount Hinchingbrooke, heir to the Earl of Sandwich, has been M.P. for South Dorset since 1941. One of his ancestors, Baron. Montagu, was M.P. for Weymouth in 1660. On leaving Cambridge he worked for two years as a factory hand in electrical engineering and later became a director of a group of companies in that business. He went with Lord Baldwin as his private secretary to the Ottawa Conference in 1932. During the war he served as a captain with The Northamptonshire?Regiment and later held a staff appointment. He was the first chairman of the Tory Reform Committee.

A native of Easington, where he attended the local elementary school, Mr. Grey was a miners’ lodge official before 1945 and an Independent Methodist lay preacher. His hobby is the study of sacred music.
