He served in both world wars, and in the latter was second in command of the 5th City of London (Press Battalion) of the Home Guard. The author of several publications on advertising, he has been chairman of the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association Advertisement Committee and chairman of the Advertisement Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce.
