    To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, how many businesses (a) applied for and (b) were granted authorisation as insurers in each of the last five years.

    The Prudential Regulation Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority are responsible for overseeing the authorisation of insurance companies. The Treasury does not publish data on authorisations of insurance providers.

    This question has been passed on to the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority, and they will reply directly to the honourable member by letter. A copy of the letter will be placed in the Library of the House.

The Investment in General Practice report published by the Health and Social Care Information Centre includes the investment in General Practice and the reimbursement of drugs dispensed in General Practices at national level.     To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, which infrastructure projects have accessed the UK Guarantees scheme; and how much funding was issued in each such case.

    Three guarantees and one Stand-by Facility have been signed under the UK Guarantees Scheme with a total value of £1,090,800,000. This includes Drax Power (£75m), Sustainable Development Capital – UK Energy Efficiency Investment Funds (£8.8m), Northern Line Extension (£750m) and Mersey Gateway Bridge (£257m).

    Any guarantees signed are reported to Parliament as required by the legislation, Infrastructure (Financial Assistance) Act 2012, underpinning the Scheme and can also be found on the gov.uk website.

    The Government has not proposed a guarantee for the Thames Tideway Tunnel. It has instead put in place a package of contingent financial support designed to cover low probability but high impact risks, prioritising the delivery of value for money for both taxpayers and customers. Further details are provided by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in a Written Ministerial Statement on 5 June.

    The Ministry of Defence does not intend to provide any new buildings as part of the sale of the Defence Support Group. But as part of our planned drawdown from Germany there will be a requirement to provide Controlled Humidity Environment storage facilities as part of Army 2020.

    The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) is responsible for producing independent economic and fiscal forecasts. The effects of payment protection insurance repayments were taken into account in their latest forecast of the economy, published in the March 2014 Economic and Fiscal Outlook.

    To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how much her Department saved for the Exchequer by closing the Passport Office in Newport.

    Her Majesty’s Passport Office has not closed its office in Newport. There is
    an office in Newport providing counter fast track and premium services,
    interviews for first time adult applicants and the Customer Contact Centre.

    During 2011-12 as part of a wider operations restructuring, postal passport
    application processing ceased in Newport and the office was relocated. It is
    estimated that this reduced operational costs by around £2.6 million per year.

    To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how much the recently employed additional staff in passport offices are estimated to cost.

    Her Majesty’s Passport Office have been training and redeploying staff from
    other duties within the Agency, from other parts of the wider Home Office, and
    in the case of one individual another Government department, to meet the
    exceptional levels of passport demand. There will be some additional costs
    relating to staff where they will be temporarily working away from their normal
    workplace and where overtime is worked by staff from other parts of the
    Department. At this time it is not possible to put a reliable estimate on
    these additional costs.
