BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. J. Baird won East Wolverhampton from the Liberals in 1945. Soil of a miner, he is a dental surgeon, having studied at Glasgow University and St. Mungo’s Medical College. During the 1939-45 war he served with the Army Dental Corps, in which he was a captain. Born in 1906, he joined the Labour Party in 1930, and for many years has been active in local government work.
