BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. E. Thurtle, who sat in Parliament as member for Shoreditch from 1923 to 1931 and since 1935, is a son-in-law of the late Mr. George Lansbury, at one time leader of the Labour Opposition. He was born in New York State in 1884 and became an accountant and salesman. In the first world war he was severely wounded at Cambrai and afterwards became an active champion of ex-service men. He has been a Labour Whip and was Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Information from 1941 to 1945. For some years he has been journalist and author.
