BIOGRAPHY :

Maj. R. J. E. Conant was M.P. for the former Bewdley division from 1937 to 1945, and for Chesterfield 1931-35, and has been Parliamentary private secretary to several Ministers. He was born in 1899, educated at Eton and Sandhurst. He has many associations with Rutland, having been High Sheriff in 1921, and is a deputy lieutenant for the county. He held a commission in the Grenadier Guards and served with them in both wars.
