BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. F. Fairhurst, who is 57 years of age, entered Parliament in 1945 for Oldham. He started work in a cotton mill after leaving school at 15. He was president of the National Association of Power Loom Overlookers, a member of the Wigan Town Council, and president of the Wigan Textile Trades Federation.
