BIOGRAPHY :

Dr. R. D. McIntyre lost the seat to Labour in 1945 after having had the distinction of being the first Scottish Nationalist M.P. He was a member for only 32 days. A native of Motherwell and son of a former local minister, he was educated at Hamilton Academy, Daniel Stewart’s College, Edinburgh, and Edinburgh University. He is chairman of the Scottish Nationalist Party.
