Mr. I. McColl contested Dumfries in 1945. Joining the Liberal Party at 16, he was elected two years later to the executive of the Scottish Liberal Federation and became hon. secretary at the age of 23. He served as an aircrew member with Coastal Command. Aged 34, he is night editor of a Scottish national newspaper.
