BIOGRAPHY :

Col. R. S. Clarke has been M.P. for East Grinstead since 1936. Born in 1892, he was educated at Eton and King’s College, Cambridge. He joined the Sussex Yeomanry in 1914 and served in Gallipoli, Egypt, and Palestine, being wounded. In 1939 he rejoined the Army and served in the Middle East and Sicily. He has extensive business interests and is a large landowner in Mid-Sussex.
