BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. J. Quigley, a South Shields business man, was born in 1913 and educated in Ireland and at Durham University. From 1932 onwards he worked as salesman, lorry-driver, and schoolteacher before starting in business as a greengrocer in order to maintain himself while studying. He is the proprietor of a large business with four shops in South Shields. A radio officer in the Merchant Navy in the war, he was wounded and discharged, later becoming a Home Office welfare officer.
