BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. J. S. Arbuthnot contested Dover in the 1945 election. Born in 1912 and educated at Eton and Cambridge, he is connected professionally with the tea industry. A Territorial officer in the Royal Artillery, he was seconded for special service in connexion with explosives in 1940, and was later awarded the M.B.E. (military division) for scientific work.
