BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. A. J. Champion was elected for the division in 1945. In 1949 he was appointed Parliamentary private secretary to Mr. Strachey, then Minister of Food. Born in 1897 he became a railway signalman and was for severalyearsamember of the executive of the N.U.R. ; and also served on Pontypridd council. He investigated labour relations in Norway for the Fabian Society, and in 1949 lectured for the British Infoimation Service in the United States.
