BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. O. G. Willey, M.P. for Cleveland since 1945, had previously engaged unsuccessfully in five election contests, two at Skipton and three in Birmingham, where he was once defeated by the late Sir A. Chamberlain by only 43 votes. Born in London 64 years ago, he has been a lecturer in history and social economics during the greater part of his life, and his first association with this district was as deputy commissioner for defence for the North-East Region.
